Choosing correct ODB2 cable

The correct OBD2 cable should be chosen to match the car, some cars e.g LEAF, Tesla & Kia Soul have specific cables.

All other cars use the generic cables which are available with the cable either coming out of the left-hand or right-hand side of the connector. The orientation of the connector can vary between RHD / LHD models and even different variants of the same model therefore it's advised to check in your car. Here are a list of cars and cable which have been known to work.

  • UK RHD Kia e-Niro - Generic Left
  • UK RHD Hyundai Kona - Generic Left
  • Renault Twizy - Generic Left or Right
  • MG ZS EV - Either Generic Right or Left will work, users have reported that using a Right cable allows for more tidy install

Note: an OBD2 extender or splitter can also be used if required, however ensure whatever extender/splitter is used has all the pins connected.
